VENDOR: Frescobaldi
It dresses the glass in a beautiful ruby red, bright and intense. On the nose, elegant hints of ripe red berried fruit stand out at first, reminiscent in particular of currants, cherries and blueberries, then followed by toasted tones of cocoa, coffee and tobacco, and by subtle floral nuances that recall violet and rose . The sip is full-bodied and characterized by a nice freshness, balanced and with good persistence.
Throughout the meal, it goes well with game dishes, such as hare and wild boar, stewed or pan-fried beef, roasts with pork as the protagonist. Also good on tasty cheeses.

Family property since the 11th century, Castiglioni is the center of origin of the Frescobaldi's wine production, which bears witness to their deeds since the 1300s. The estate extends along the ancient Via di Castiglioni, built by the Romans to unite the north of Tuscany with Rome, the Eternal City. The area was already famous in those days for the high quality of its agricultural crops and was for centuries the center of intense traffic and the chosen place for the construction of luxurious Roman villas. South-west of Florence, in the Val di Pesa, the area is ideal for the cultivation of elegant Sangiovese, but also of robust and lively Cabernet Sauvignon, Merlot and Cabernet Franc. All the vineyards of the estate enjoy a warm and dry microclimate, with afternoon breezes arriving from the Tyrrhenian Sea. Here the grapes ripen more quickly and completely, giving the wines intensely fruity notes, remarkable softness and refined structure. From a careful cut based on cabernet left to mature for about 12 months in barrique, Tenuta Frescobaldi di Castiglioni is born, a red that is characterized by its modern taste without losing the link with the territory it represents.
