Family property since the 11th century, Castiglioni is the original center of Frescobaldi wine production, which has been attested to since 1300. The estate extends along the ancient Via di Castiglioni, built by the Romans to unite northern Tuscany with Rome, the eternal city. The area was already famous at that time for the high quality of its agricultural crops and was for centuries the center of intense traffic and the chosen place for the construction of luxurious Roman villas. Southwest of Florence, in the Val di Pesa, the area is ideal for growing elegant Sangiovese, but also robust and lively Cabernet Sauvignon, Merlot and Cabernet Franc. All the vineyards of the estate enjoy a warm and dry microclimate, with afternoon breezes that come from the Tyrrhenian Sea. Here the grapes ripen more quickly and completely, giving the wines intensely fruity notes, notable softness and refined structure. From a careful blend of Cabernet left to mature for approximately 12 months in barrique comes Tenuta Frescobaldi by Castiglioni, a red wine characterised by its modern taste without losing its ties to the territory it represents.
