Custoza di Zenato is produced in the area between Lugana and Valpolicella, 95 hectares of land divided between white and red grape varieties. The winery is family-run: in 1960 Sergio Zenato indulged his passion for the world of wine, investing in new winemaking techniques and in the valorization of native vines . The children Alberto and Nadia have been able to treasure their father's legacy, aiming to respect the fruits of the earth and transform them into wines with an authentic and unique flavor.
The Garganega, Chardonnay, Friulano and Cortese grapes of Custoza di Zenato come from the Venetian shore of Lake Garda and grow on soils mainly composed of limestone, clay and gravel for a final product with a characterful and elegant structure. The climate is predominantly continental with cold winters and little rain and hot summers influenced by the cool breezes of the surrounding mountains. The harvest is done manually in September and in two different phases depending on the vines involved: the first grapes to be harvested are the Friulano and the Chardonnay, only later the others. In the cellar the bunches are subjected to soft pressing and then undergo alcoholic fermentation in steel. It ages for several months in steel.
At first sight, Custoza di Zenato appears a pale straw yellow with bright reflections; on the nose, there are hints of white flowers such as wisteria and notes of white-fleshed fruit such as pear, apple and white peach. In the mouth, there is softness, balance and enveloping, calibrated by a persistent final freshness that calls for drinking. It is recommended for pairing with light appetizers, steamed fish and raw fish tartare; also interesting with savory pies made with seasonal vegetables. Product born from passion and expertise of a family, whose primary objective is the respect of nature and the gifts it offers.
