The Lugana "Santa Cristina" is the result of a research work by the Cantina Zenato, aimed at creating a pure Trebbiano di Lugana, aged only in steel, equipped with good structure and great varietal typicality . For the production of this label, only grapes from the historic Podere Massoni vineyard in Peschiera del Garda are used, which guarantees an optimal level of ripening of the bunches every year, with rich and intense aromatic profiles.
The Zenato “Santa Cristina” is the fruit of old vines over 50 years old of age, grown on the fine clayey soils of the southern area of Lake Garda. The splendid southern exposure of the vineyard and the mild climate of this small corner of the Mediterranean, magically located between Brescia and Verona, provide excellent quality grapes with out of the ordinary characteristics of maturity and richness. At the end of the harvest, which usually takes place towards the end of September, the grapes are softly pressed and the must is fermented at a controlled temperature of 16-18 °C, in steel tanks, for about 15 /20 days. The wine always ages in steel tanks for about 4/5 months and ends the refinement with a few months in the bottle.
The "Santa Cristina" wine expresses all its qualities in the glass personality and fruity richness, with mature notes and intact freshness. It has a straw yellow color with soft greenish reflections. The bouquet is striking for its intensity and complexity, with citrus, floral and tropical fruit notes. The sip is lively and refreshing, with crunchy fruit, which stretches rich and persistent towards a pleasantly savory finish . At the table, find the best pairings with lake fish and more generally with seafood.
