Dry Verduzzo I Clivi 2017

The Verduzzo Secco of I Clivi is one of the four interpretations by Ferdinando Zanusso and his son Marco of native vines of Friuli: Ribolla Gialla, Friulano, Malvasia and, precisely, Verduzzo. Through years of experimentation, father and son have managed to find a production philosophy capable of satisfying high quality standards reflecting the character of the vines and the territory. Friulano Verduzzo is a native vine of the region, capable of expressing itself at excellent levels especially when it finds its place in hilly areas.

The care and attention of I Clivi begins right from the harvest of the best bunches of Verduzzo, which is carried out manually, on vineyards of more than 70 years of age . The non-stemmed berries are pressed entirely, so as to obtain a fresh and clear juice: the must. Subsequently, inside steel tanks, the indigenous yeasts are waited for to start the fermentation and for the coarser lees to decant, to then be eliminated. On the contrary, the finer lees are kept in suspension in the wine for six to eight months, in order to maintain the real character of the vine.

The Verduzzo Secco of I Clivi, with a golden yellow coat, has an extraordinary aromatic complexity, due to the ability of Ferdinando and Marco to know how to best interpret the qualities of this Friulian vine. On the nose, the bouquet is studded with full and intense aromas such as honey and candied citron which blend with hints of sage and licorice. Intense and soft on the palate, it leaves the mouth with a saline finish. Perfect wine if combined with any fish dish, such as spaghetti with seafood, able to withstand the aromatic majesty of this sincere interpretation of Verduzzo.
