The Syrah “Achelo” from the La Braccesca - Antinori winery in the Montepulciano and Cortona area is a multifaceted and exuberant red . This is an international grape variety planted in the ideal Tuscan soil that gives rise to a pure and clear territorial expression. This red thus becomes an engaging story, in which the content is modulated by an unusual form and is transmitted with a French accent that gives the frank personality of the territory a distinctive charm. The La Braccesca winery divides the 508-hectare property into two production areas: one in Montepulciano and one at the foot of the Cortona hills, where this particular and expressive Syrah comes from.
“Achelo” is a Syrah obtained from the homonymous vine in purity. The bunches are harvested and transported to the Cortona winery, where they are crushed and destemmed and the must obtained is subjected to a cold maceration in the pre-fermentation phase that enhances the characteristics and freshness of the fruit. An alcoholic fermentation of about 10 days follows and, partly inside second and third passage barriques and partly in steel, the malolactic fermentation. Bottling completes the entire winemaking process.
Braccesca “Achelo” is a Syrah with a dark and deep purple red color with violet reflections. The nose shows a black fruity texture of blackberry and currant, firmly intertwined with the characteristic spicy stamp that characterizes the grape variety. In the mouth it echoes with notes of licorice and ripe dark fruit, which determines a soft and enveloping sip. The tannin is present but well managed, integrated with the full body and the crisp freshness. A triumph of aromas that involves and tells the face of a great grape variety in a great land.
