Amarone Valpolicella Classico DOCG Allegrini 2017

VENDOR: Allegrini

€69,90

Amarone is the fruit of all the wisdom of the Allegrini family, a true classic of the appellation, a red that sums up tradition, territory and peasant wisdom. Corvina, Corvinone, Rondinella and Oseleta are left to dry at least until December, checking their health every day. After a long refinement, the red comes out which has become the emblem of national enology together with Barolo and Brunello di Montalcino. The profile is very thick and deep, both in the aromas of ripe fruit and spices, and on the palate, where the alcohol finds the right travel companions in the acidity and refined tannins.

TASTING NOTES
The olfactory emanation is calibrated on warm notes of withered violets, both ripe and candied blackberries, sweet spices, and confit tomato converging towards darker aromas of wet fur, willow bark, Tuscan cigar, cocoa beans, and resin. The tasting reveals a wide and robust structure that doesn't give up a millimeter in elegance and clarity; the various components appear fused into each other to compose a precious harmony culminating in a mineral, clear, and tenacious finish.

PAIRINGS
Traditionally paired with game dishes, grilled meats, braised meats, and long-aged cheeses. Thanks to the hints of grape withering, Amarone can also be paired with original and fascinating dishes with sweet and sour flavors, making it a perfect match for creations from Asian and Middle Eastern cuisine.

 PRODUCER
A leading producer in Valpolicella Classica, Allegrini has always been recognized as one of Italy's most important and significant wine estates. Owned by the eponymous family since the sixteenth century, the company can count on over a hundred hectares of vineyards located on the hills of Fumane, Sant'Ambrogio, San Pietro in Cariano, and more generally in all the historical areas of the appellation. A territory dedicated to viticulture since ancient times, as confirmed by the etymology of its name: "val polis cellae" means, in fact, "the valley of many cellars". Located in western Veneto, between Verona and Lake Garda, and bordered to the north by the Lessini Mountains, the Allegrini estate is situated in an area where corvina, rondinella, molinara, and other native historic grape varieties give life to what can be considered some of the best red wines in the Peninsula.
